The diagnosis of atypical ulcerative lesions in the oral cavity can be a complex multistep process that requires inter-disciplinary investigations and multimodal care. This case conference will bring to the stage 3 experts in variable fields of healthcare, in which two or three unique cases of atypical ulcerative lesions will be presented. Attendees will participate in live polling throughout the presentations. Ample time will be designated for more interaction between the audience and the expert panel at the end of the session.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate the clinical signs and symptoms detected/reported in patients with atypical oral ulcers and discuss the presentations’ ambiguities that may obstruct and delay detection.
  2. Illustrate the pivotality of multidisciplinary team investigations to reach definitive diagnosis.
  3. Discuss the multimodal care provided by different disciplines to reduce morbidity and improve patients’ quality of life

This talk will review the indications for photo-biomodulation for oral medicine related conditions. 

Learning objectives:

  1. Provide an overview for the physics and mechanism of action of photo-biomodulation.
  2. Review the current indications and latest recommendations for the use of photo-biomodulation in the management of oral conditions.
  3. Describe the clinical limitations of photo-biomodulation and precautionary measures that should be considered when using the technology.

This talk will focus on the use of ultrasonography techniques for detection and diagnosis of conditions encountered at the oral medicine clinics.

This talk outlines the pathophysiology and risks for oral and dental late complications in pediatric cancer survivors and highlights the rationale for oral and dental screening in this population with focus on the Children's Oncology Group Long-Term Follow-Up Guidelines for Survivors of Childhood, Adolescent, and Young Adult Cancers.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize the oral and dental late complications in pediatric cancer survivors and their impact of the patient’s quality of life.
  2. Review the current Children's Oncology Group Long-Term Follow-Up Guidelines for Survivors of Childhood, Adolescent, and Young Adult with Cancers.
