Multidisciplinary Conference with Expert Panel (Tumor Board Model)

Two unique cancer cases will be presented in this session. A panel of experts including a Head and Neck Surgical oncologist, medical oncologist, head and neck radiologist, radiation oncologist, and oral medicine specialist will discuss the cases and offer expertise in diagnosis and management. Case presentations will include the patient’s medical history, clinical presentation, diagnostic studies, treatment modalities, and research protocol considerations. 

 Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the rationale for multidisciplinary case conferences in oncology.
  2. Recognize the unique and complementary roles of the various participants in determining the most appropriate course of therapy for a given cancer patient.
  3. Appreciate the opportunities for clinical research in oncology, and how a multidisciplinary case conference can help facilitate participation in clinical trials.
