This talk explores the many ways in which the published biomedical literature can be potentially, or even intentionally misleading, and provides practical considerations for critical interpretation. 

 Learning Objectives:

  1. Provide a framework for reading, interpreting, and understanding a journal article
  2. Recognize how study design, bias, selective reporting, and inappropriate use of statistics can influence a paper’s key findings and conclusions
  3. Review the necessary principles and measures to improve the overall quality of biomedical publications
