Job Description:

The University of Washington Department of Oral Medicine is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor tenure-track position who will serve as the Graduate Program Director as well to become a faculty member in the School of Dentistry. This is a 12-month active service period full-time position that is open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2020.University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The responsibilities of the Director of the Graduate Program in Oral Medicine are broad and include clinical and didactic teaching of pre-doctoral students, graduate students and fellows. It would also include substantial clinical teaching in the Oral Medicine Clinical Services and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and didactic course direction of two courses in the Oral Medicine and Therapeutics series, weekly assessment of student presentations in Oral Medicine Clinical conference, generation of new curricula, and preparing students for the American Board of Oral Medicine Diplomate examination. The Director will also be responsible for development and conduct of research and other scholarly activities, and oversight for research conducted by students and fellows. In addition, the Director will be responsible for administrative matters related to application reviews, candidate interviews,graduate student selection, program orientation, clinical and didactic scheduling, student progress reviews, curriculum review and periodic outcomes assessment, coordination of intra- and extramural clinical rotations, completion of all responsibilities related to the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), website maintenance, and participation in national and university graduate program director committees.

Skills/Qualifications Required:

Qualifications for the position include certificate of completion of a formal training in Oral Medicine, a Master’s degree in clinical science or foreign equivalent, and diplomate status in the American Board of Oral Medicine. Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of didactic and clinical teaching, curriculum planning and development, and student mentoring. A record of scholarship is highly desirable. Candidates must be eligible to apply for a Washington state dental license, and if hired, must have obtained a Washington State Dental license by the first day of appointment.
