AAOM Past President and Board of Trustee Receives Riga Stradins University Honor

Dr. George Taybos, DDS, MSEd, has been awarded Medicinae Doctorem Honoris by the Riga Stradins University, Riga, Latvia for his ten years of academic activities in the University’s Stomatology Institute.  Dr. Taybos received this award at the University on September 17, 2015 as part of the University’s 65th Anniversary Celebration.

 Dr. Taybos is a graduate of Wabash College (1966) and Indiana University School of Dentistry (1970).  He entered the
United States Navy in 1970 and retired from the Navy in 1992.  While in the Navy he completed a one year residency in Comprehensive Dentistry (1975-1976) and a two year residency in Oral Medicine/Dental Radiology (1980-1982).  He was the Chairman of he Oral Medicine/ Dental Radiology Residency Training Program (1984-1986).  He is Board Certified in both Oral Medicine and Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.  In 1993, Dr. Taybos received a MSEd from Northern Illinois University.

He was on the faculty at the University of Minnesota (1995-1998) and University of Mississippi Medical Center beginning in 1998 and he served from 2008 as Chief, Oral Medicine, Oral Oncology Clinic Cancer Institute until his retirement in 2014.  In October 2014 he was granted Professor Emeritus by the University of Mississippi.
