2023 AAOM Annual Conference Call for Abstracts

Submit your research to present at the conference

The American Academy of Oral Medicine (AAOM) would like to invite abstracts for oral and poster presentations at the annual meeting in May 2023. Abstracts must not be published at the time of submission. Abstracts previously presented within the last 12 months at other conferences, and not yet published, are eligible for submission.

The Abstracts Committee for this meeting will select abstracts for poster and oral presentations. Those accepted for oral presentation will be published in the Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, and Oral Radiology  journal.

The call for abstracts has closed. Decisions will be sent to corresponding authors via ConfTool by January 27, 2023

If you created or had a user account in ConfTool in the past, your user account should stay the same. Please attempt to use the same user name and password as last year. Please contact [email protected] if you have any problem logging in using your last year’s user name and password.

Decisions will be sent to corresponding authors via ConfTool by January 22, 2023.  All communication concerning the status (acceptance or rejection) of your abstract will occur within ConfTool.

If accepted, the presenting author is required to register for the meeting and be present during the scheduled poster/oral sessions. Abstracts are accepted contingent that the presenting author register and present the abstract at the annual meeting. An abstract without a registered presenter by the registration deadline will be withdrawn and will not be eligible for publication in Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology Journal.

For international attendees

Please check with the US embassy in your country concerning visa requirements and consider that there have been significant administrative delays and plan accordingly. Please remember that abstract acceptance communications will be delivered only via Conftool in January 2023. The AAOM does not provide any travel stipends or administrative support for visa applications.

Questions concerning abstracts should be directed to [email protected].

Lester Burket Memorial Award

The Lester Burket Memorial Award (LBMA) was created to honor the memory of Dr. Lester Burket to promote basic and clinical research in oral medicine. Only research conducted by residents/fellows of accredited US and Canadian Oral Medicine training programs are eligible. Graduates of the Oral Medicine Programs are eligible to submit their abstracts as long as the research was initiated during their residency. There is no restriction on the number of candidates permitted per training program. The abstracts should represent significant thesis-level research. A maximum of two awards are given each year.

Awardees will give a 20-minute oral presentation at the 2023 AAOM meeting. Awardees will receive $1,500, a one-year membership in the AAOM and their meeting registration fee will be waived.

Case Report Awards

The five best case reports submitted by students/residents/fellows will be selected to give an 8-minute oral case presentation at the 2023 AAOM meeting and receive a small monetary award.

Judging will be based on the quality, clarity, and clinical significance of the abstract submission.

Robert and Kay Schattner Award

A student, resident, or fellow presenting an oral abstract at the meeting will be eligible for the Robert and Kay Schattner Award for the best oral presentation of an original investigation abstract. Judging for this award will take place during the meeting.
