AAOM Members Listed in Boston Magazine's Top Dentists 2017

Nathaniel Treister DMD, DMSc, Stephen Sonis, DMD, DMSc, and Sook-Bin Woo, DMD, MMSc, of the Division of Oral Medicine and Dentistry, were included in Boston magazine’s inaugural “Top Dentists 2017” list.

The three Brigham and Women's Hospital Oral Medicine specialists, all board-certified in oral medicine, were among 381 dentists and dental specialists recognized on the list. Honorees were selected by their peers, with more than 600 dentists in Greater Boston completing the magazine’s online survey during the nomination period. 

Treister is chief of the Division of Oral Medicine and Dentistry. His primary clinical interests include oral mucosal diseases and oral complications of cancer therapy and, in particular, graft-versus-host disease. As an investigator, he studies oral complications related to cancer therapies, with particular interest in hematopoietic cell transplantation, mucositis and graft-versus-host disease.

Sonis, former chief of the division, has clinical interests in oral mucosal diseases and regimen-related toxicities of cancer therapy. He is actively involved in translational and clinical research in the areas of supportive cancer care, radiation injury and genomics. 

Woo, who is also board-certified in oral pathology, has clinical interests in oral lesions, oral mucosal diseases, cancer therapy and bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis (a form of bone disease that affects the jaw). 

The Division of Oral Medicine and Dentistry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital provides oral medicine and dental services for medically complex patients. The division specializes in providing oral health care for cancer patients and cancer survivors, working as part of a multidisciplinary care team with the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center.
