Wayne W. Herman, D.D.S., M.S.
President
Dr. Wayne Herman is a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry and earned a masters degree in Oral Diagnosis from the University of Iowa. Prior to joining the faculty of the Medical College of Georgia (MCG), School of Dentistry in 1993, he served on active duty in the US
Army Dental Corps for 26 years, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He has forty years of clinical experience and is currently a Professor, Oral Medicine in the Department of Oral Diagnosis. Dr. Herman is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the Hinman Dental Society, and the American Dental Education Association. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine. At the Medical College of Georgia, he is course director of four courses in Oral Medicine and lectures in many other courses. He is a member of the staff at the MCG Hospital. His interests include dental management of medically complex patients, oral mucosal disease, prevention of radiation-induced mucositis, and treatment of chronic orofacial pain. He has been selected for MCG School of Dentistry’s Outstanding Faculty and Teaching Excellence Awards.

Treasurer
Dr. Craig S. Miller is the Treasurer (2006) for the American Academy of Oral Medicine. He joined the Academy in 1987 and was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 1991 and the Executive Committee in 1997. He has served the Academy as chairman of numerous committees, and as Secretary (1997-2001), Vice-President (2001-2002), President-Elect (2002-2003) and President (2003-2004). In 2003, he received the Academy’s Samuel Charles Miller Medal for his numerous scientific accomplishments, and in 2006 received the Academy’s Abraham B. Reiner Diamond Pin Award for lifetime achievements in the field of oral medicine. Dr. Miller is currently a Professor of Oral Medicine, Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and College of Medicine, Lexington, Kentucky and the editor of the Medical Management Update section of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontology. His research and scholarly activities have resulted in more than 100 scientific articles, textbook chapters, and monographs in the areas of oral viral infections, dental management and oral manifestations of systemic disease, salivary diagnostics, and dental pharmacology. He is well known for three textbooks he has co-authored: the Color Atlas of Common Oral Diseases, Oral Diagnosis, Oral Medicine and Treatment Planning, and Dental Management of the Medically Compromised Patient. He has received numerous awards for his accomplishments including: Fellowship in Molecular Virology from the American Fund for Dental Health, the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry “Excellence in Teaching Award”, grant awards from the National Institutes of Health, Fellow of the American College of Dentists, and the Student Research Group Mentor Award from the American Association for Dental Research.

Thomas P. Sollecito, D.M.D.

Dr. Sollecito is a Professor of Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. He is also an Attending in Oral Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a University Associate at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He graduated Villanova University where he received a B.S. in Biology, cum laude. He then completed his DMD degree program at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine where he graduated with honors. Formerly, he was the Director of the Oral Medicine Residency Program and currently is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. He was the Editor of the Medical Management Section of the Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontology Journal, and he is a reviewer for the Journal of the American Dental Association. He is a Fellow in Hospital Dentistry and a Diplomate in Special Care Dentistry. He is also a member of OKU, the American Academy of Oral Medicine and the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a Diplomate in Oral Medicine and he has authored numerous papers and chapters related to various topics in Oral Medicine.

NELSON L RHODUS, DMD, MPH, is a Distinguished Professor and Director of the Division of Oral Medicine in the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He is also an adjunct Professor of Otolaryngology in the School of Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine, and Past- President of the American Academy of Oral Medicine. He is an Attending member of the Hospital Staff of the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics and the Minnesota Cancer Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists.
Dr. Rhodus has received numerous research grants and has published over two-hundred, scientific papers and abstracts and he has presented over three-hundred lectures and courses throughout the United States and abroad. He co-authors a textbook: DENTAL MANAGEMENT OF THE MEDICALLY COMPROMISED PATIENT which is in its 7th edition.

Michael A. Siegel, D.D.S., M.S.

Michael A. Siegel, D.D.S., M.S. is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Siegel is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine and holds a Masters degree in Oral Pathology. He was recently included in the International Who’s Who in Medicine. Dr. Siegel has lectured internationally and has published extensively in the field of Oral Medicine to include a textbook on diagnosis and management of common oral lesions. Dr. Siegel serves on the editorial boards of Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology Oral Radiology and Endodontology and Inside Dentistry. He is the Immediate Past-President of the American Academy of Oral Medicine and a past President of the American Board of Oral Medicine. He recently completed his term as Chairman of the American Dental Association's Council on Scientific Affairs. He is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. He has a part-time specialty practice limited to Oral Medicine in the Fort Lauderdale area.
