Stephen Challacombe

Stephen Challacombe is the Martin Rushton Professor of Oral Medicine at King’s College London and is now part time. He was Consultant in Diagnostic Microbiology & Immunology to Guys & St Thomas Hospitals (1984-2011) He served as Vice Dean of the Dental Institute at Guys Hospital (2007-2011) and Dean for International Affairs KCL Health Schools (2007-2011) and was Senior Research Fellow, Department of Immunology, Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, USA. (1978-79).
He has been author or co-author of over 240 peer reviewed research papers and 160 other publications on: Mucosal immunity; Immunological, dermatological and microbiological aspects of oral diseases; Oral medicine; Candida infections; Immunological aspects of Dental Caries, Oral manifestations of HIV infection, Oral Tolerance. Editor or co-editor of 9 books on Food Allergy, Food Allergy & Intolerance, Practical and Theoretical aspects of ELISA, Oral Aids Research; Immunology of Oral Diseases Chairman OHARA External Experts Advisory panel (2007- 2014) Member NIDCR Research grants panel (2006-2010). He has received a number of awards for his research and has served as President of the IADR and the European Association for Oral Medicine.
