Dr. Frederick N Hyman, DDS, MPH

Fred Hyman has been a dental officer with FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research since 1993. He received his DDS from the University of Maryland in 1981 and practiced general dentistry prior to obtaining a Master in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 1990. He then completed a 3-year United States Public Health Service Epidemiology Fellowship. His focus at FDA has been to facilitate the Center’s mission of protecting and promoting public health by helping to ensure that human drugs are safe and effective for their intended use. His expertise is the review of clinical data to support the approval of drugs to diagnose, treat or prevent oral health conditions including caries, periodontal diseases, salivary dysfunction, and oral mucositis.
